The country of hang gliding

In the Regional Natural Park of Monte Cucco, the belly of the Apennines, the village of Sigillo stands out, in the province of Perugia: it has medieval characteristics and a strong sense of environmental protection. The village is entirely surrounded by sinuous mountains and reliefs that give life to the suggestive panorama of Sigillo. The possible activities to be practiced in the area are many, which range from the open air to the bowels of the earth: walking, hiking, trekking, different types and classes of free flight and more. The sport of hang-gliding was born in the 1970s in the United States and Australia, and then also developed worldwide, even in Sigillo where, in summer, the weather conditions are the best and ideal for practicing this free flight sport. This particular sport has several classes, which, in Sigillo, are mostly characterized by women. In 2009 the second hang gliding world championship took place on Monte Cucco, which had not been held in Italy since 1999.
