In ancient times, wheat was ground, it was a poor dish but over the years it has become delicious and very famous throughout Italy and the world, we are talking about polenta and today we are in Apiro, at the Polenta festival, of course. Every year, on the last weekend of September, Apiro celebrates this ancient dish, accompanied by stands, music and dancing. Typical dish of this area, since the cultivation of turkish wheat has been typical of the area since ancient times, which was then ground and the flour obtained gave rise to polenta, a simple dish that fed the whole population. From the early hours of the morning the polenta experts begin the preparations for the cooking of the polenta which is cooked in copper pots over a wood fire. There are different sauces that can be combined with the protagonist, from different cheeses to meat sauce, to venison, wild boar and sausage sauce. We could still taste the fried polenta accompanied by the DOC wines of the Marche region. Unmissable event involving the whole province of Macerata.
