Vernazza, discovering the Cinque Terre

Where: vernazza
(Spezia)
Genre: nature   useful information

Vernazza is one of the centuries-old villages that make up the Cinque Terre. This presents itself with colored houses, and there is also the Doria Castle. Reaching the seat by train is very convenient: the station is located in the center. The main street is Via Roma, and is characterized by copious souvenir and handicraft shops, gastronomy and much more. Near the sea is the church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia, with a bell tower and surmounted by a dome. According to an ancient popular belief, a wooden box was found on the beach containing a relic, that is some bones of the saint. It would seem that this relic disappeared due to a storm but miraculously reappeared some time later in the same spot. Thus the famous church was dedicated to the Saint. The center of Vernazza is characterized by steps and small streets. The landscape is characterized by terraces that farmers have created to facilitate cultivation, given the slope. Furthermore, the locality is connected to the other 4 villages of the Cinque Terre through a network of paths.
