Arcidosso is a Tuscan town of 4,295 inhabitants, in the province of Grosseto. It is located near the slopes of Mount Amiata, and its landscape is divided between that of the mountain until it descends towards that of the Maremma. There are vast forests of beech and chestnut trees, which positively influence the town's economy, in fact the town is part of the Production area of the Amiata PGI Castagna, whose good quality and sweetness are due to the presence of volcanic soils. Inside the village, old buildings and houses alternate, unlike other countries where it is preferred to leave the historic center in its original form. A very important monument is the Aldobrandesco Castle, built just before the year 1000, which is located right on top of the village. Rocca Aldobrandesca is one of the oldest castles in Amiata, and is well preserved: inside it the history of the castle and the surrounding area is told, offering an archaeological-artistic itinerary inside.
