The most important toll booth in the Aosta Valley, the Fènis Castle

Today we are going to visit the most famous and well-known of the castles of the Aosta Valley: we are talking about the Fénis Castle. Situated on a gentle hill, the castle is nevertheless equipped with a conspicuous defensive system. The personalities who stayed there were different; among the main ones we remember Alfredo d'Andrade: it is thanks to him that we still have the opportunity to visit him today. Let's go immediately to discover its beauties! Inside the courtyard we are welcomed by St. George who kills the dragon to save the princess. Entering the palace, we go to visit the most important room of the Castle, also used as a family chapel, where we find some frescoes, including the Madonna della Misericordia which takes the various members of the family and some important authorities under its mantle; in others we see some Saints and the Apostles, who further embellish the walls of this room. Finally we arrive on the balcony of the Castle, decorated by wise philosophers who carry parchments with proverbs in old French. We conclude the visit by walking through the wonderful and immense garden.
