(Lago d'Idro)
Genre: nature   useful information

In the province of Brescia, on the border with Trentino, in the Val Sabbia area, there is a lake of glacial origin, Lake Idro, formed by the waters of the Chiese river. The surface is about ten kilometers and the maximum depth of 122 meters. From a tourist point of view, the lake is very popular both because the waters are suitable for bathing and for nature walks. On foot it is possible to cover the entire perimeter of the stretch of water, while by car the route stops in the hamlet of Vesta. The fauna is abundant with various species of fish (pike, perch, eel), and seabirds such as mallards, gulls, kingfishers, coots and nightingales. While in some places the path is very natural, in other cases there are some aids such as steel or wooden bridges and other passages. The lake is also a nature reserve, with various educational and tourist events to enjoy the beauty of the landscape while respecting nature. The municipalities that are in some way touched by the lake are: Idro, Anfo and Ponte Caffaro, Lemprato, Crone, Anfo, Ponte Caffaro, Vesta and Vantone.
