The Volcanological Park and the Museum of the Volcanoes of San Venanzo

Where: san-venanzo
(San Venanzo)
Genre: culture   fun

Near Monte Peglia, in San Venanzo, there are the Park and the Volcanological Museum. The park of the Volcanoes is an equipped naturalistic path, which can also be undertaken alone as there are many illustrative signs. Furthermore, the route to follow is well delimited by wooden fences that lead the visitor in front of the volcanic rocks called venanzite, which are typical of this place. These rocks were once used to make the millstones of the mills, so much so that along the way you pass through a site called the quarry of the millstones. It is also interesting to observe the way in which other types of rock join the venanzite, such as in the case of pegmatoid intrusions. The attached Museum is an interesting journey into the world of volcanoes. Inside, in fact, not only the geological conformation of the surrounding area is explained, but it is possible to know more generally how the terrestrial faults move and the various dynamics linked to the eruptions.
