Corte Franca is a town located in the territory of Franciacorta, near Lake Iseo. The municipality was formed in 1928 from the merger of the villages of Nigoline, Borgonato, Timoline and Colombaro. There are traces that this area has been inhabited since the Middle Ages and that there were also several castles which, however, were almost all destroyed at the beginning of the Venetian era. Among the most important places of worship in the country we find the Church of Santi Cosma e Damiano located in the Timoline area. The Palazzo Tonelli built in the 18th century is also very beautiful. Inside it houses some important works by the artist Carlo Carloni. In the hamlet of Borgonato there is the only fortification that survived the destruction of the 1400s with the adjoining Church of San Salvatore. Of great historical value is also the Palazzo Lana dated 1500. The building preserves several frescoes, a library and a valuable collection of ancient weapons. Finally, the Church of Sant'Eufemia located in Nigoline is picturesque.
