It is one of the best beaches in the Marche region, for the environmental quality and the receptive level. Suitable for families who need a wide beach gently sloping into the sea, clear and of a beautiful blue color, it has a rich offer of restaurants, cycle paths and artistic beauties. Founded by the ancient Romans in 184 a. C. on the banks of the Potenza river, it was abandoned as a marshy area due to the attacks of the barbarians and the Goths, who forced the villagers to find refuge on the heights. Frederick II built the Swabian Castle, which was later donated to the Municipality and completed in the 15th century. At the Castrum maris boats landed to unload or load goods, missing another docking point. Recent works on the port have identified an ancient dock that Pope Julius II, the della Rovere family, wanted to complete in 1510 as Porto Giulio. Unfortunately, the frequent attacks from the sea by the Turks did not allow its completion. The Torre Nuova was then built as a bulwark. Only in the 18th century the swamp was reclaimed and the town was born that offers extraordinary moments of vacation. To get to know it, you can take the cycle paths, suitable for everyone, up to the little church of the Banderuola, up to Becerica and up to the Abbey of Santa Maria in Potenza.
