(Castelluccio superiore.)
Genre: culture   nature   folklore

Center of the Lucanian Apennines, the small village is inserted, at 680 m, in the Pollino Park. Despite the Montana connotation, the town is 23 km away from the Tyrrhenian towns, such as Maratea. The main attraction is the path of the Misule, ancient peasant houses, and the flower beds of medicinal plants, set up on the public terraces. Walking here and admiring the Pollino massif, you will be inebriated by the essences of the Salvie, the Melissie and the Timi. The visit winds up the village that winds in a spiral along the promontory, according to the town planning of the medieval castle. We walk in the Piazzetta delle Erbe, along the Casa Ginnari, an old health resort, and in Vico Terzo Salvia. In via Castelvecchio you will find the old municipal house with the cross that lights up every evening. Visiting the Misule, in the upper part of the town, you can admire the panorama of the Bosco Difesa, a tourist destination, where among the centuries-old Cerri, orchids and protected animals bloom such as foxes, otters and the salamander with glasses.
