Four steps through the white streets of Locorotondo

Where: locorotondo
(Locorotondo)
Genre: useful information

Locorotondo is a small town in the province of Bari located in the Itria Valley. You can stroll through its historic center in a few minutes, to breathe the very characteristic air that is savored here. The main peculiarity of Locorotondo is that its streets are completely white. The buildings are plastered in white and there is a single colored building, which is located just past Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. The alleys appear so white also because they are well-kept: there are many small artisan shops, and of course there is no shortage of restaurants and clubs where you can taste the local dishes. Crossing Locorotondo you will come across several churches: the first is that of Maria Santissima Addolorata. Then there is another, smaller one, built in 1830 at the behest of Baron Barrassa, dedicated to Santa Maria del Soccorso. But the most important sacred building of all the others is the church of San Giorgio Martire, whose construction was completed in 1824. This church is in fact dedicated to the patron saint of Locorotondo.
