Inhabited since ancient times, there are certain structures from the Roman era, of which it is possible to visit the finds, such as Latin epigraphs and sarcophagi from the imperial era. However, its real history officially begins in the Middle Ages, its first mention dates back to 1053. Today the city retains its medieval - baroque aspect. To visit the Collegiata, that is the church of Santa Maria Assunta of 1683 built by Pamphilj where there are preserved works of inestimable sculpture and painting.
