Bari Sardo, the Sellersu Nuraghe

Where: bari-sardo
(Bari Sardo)
Genre: culture   nature

Bari Sardo is a Sardinian town in the province of Nuoro; rises 51 meters above sea level and has 3,800 inhabitants. In the Marina di Cea hamlet, a very rich archaeological area, there is the Nuraghe Sellersu, built in basalt blocks and in a fairly good state of conservation. Probably originally equipped with three towers, one main and the other two leaning against the first, a part of the Nuraghe is unfortunately inaccessible because it partially collapsed and precisely that of the main keep. Of the two entrances, only one is accessible, equipped with the classic flat arched roof lintel, the corridors leading to the towers are almost completely blocked by collapsed stones. Under the main tower you can see a niche and the remains of a staircase. By completing the circumnavigation of the Nuraghe externally, it is noted that the second entrance remains covered by debris and is therefore completely inaccessible. From the Nuraghe Sellersu you can also enjoy a spectacular view of the underlying Cea bay.
