Chiavenna is the main town of the homonymous valley, located in the province of Sondrio. Today it is a prestigious tourist place that attracts visitors all year round, known for its 'crotti'. These are natural cavities typical of these areas that penetrate the remains of ancient landslides and the most famous is the Caurga ravine, just near Chiavenna. Among the places not to be missed in the city: - Piazza Don Pietro Bormetti with the statue of San Francesco; - the majestic collegiate church of San Lorenzo, the main place of worship, with the baptismal font next to it; - the treasure museum, in the internal courtyard of the collegiate church, which houses valuable works such as the Peace of Chiavenna, an example of extremely precious goldsmith's art; - piazza Castello, so called due to the presence of Palazzo Balbiani (called the castle); - Palazzo Solis, located in piazza castello, built in 700 at the behest of the Grigione family; - the Mera river that crosses the city creating a very suggestive glance with the mountains behind; - the natural reserve of the potholes of the giants where you can admire glacial phenomena and soapstone in nature. Furthermore, going up to the top, the view over the whole valley is breathtaking.
