Serravalle di Chienti

Where: serravalle-di-chienti
(Serravalle di Chienti)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

We are located in Serravalle di Chieti, among green hills. At the extreme edge that closes the fertile and sunny plateau we find a source of crystalline water with its sweet gurgling. Walking along the streets, we find, on the side of the mountain, a watchtower, with its epigraph that tells of an ancient story, born around the 13th century. Going down to the valley we can admire simulacra of surrounding walls that still protect the small village below, enclosed between the massifs of the Prefoglio and Mount Maggio. This is how an arch overlooks Serravalle, at Porta de Duca di Camerino. In red brick that introduces us to the silent village. The square, which in the summer comes alive with life, in autumn seems to listen to the flow of water in the ancient fountain. La Pieve, of eighteenth-century paintings, contains many works of seventeenth-century frescoes. Then, not far away, we find the municipal house, designed in 1960, in an adjacent space the Paleontological Museum preserves numerous finds.
