Colloredo di Monte Albano is a municipality in the province of Udine. The town was already inhabited since pre-Roman times and its main monument is the Castle. It dates back to 1302 and was built by the feudal Melts family. Over the centuries the structure has been enlarged several times, passing from having military purposes to becoming a residence. The town is famous for being the birthplace of an important exponent of Baroque literature such as Ermes di Colloredo. The writer Ippolito Nievo also lived here for a few years, finding inspiration for many works. The town is rich in churches of great value such as the one dedicated to Saints Andrew and Matthias located near the Castle. Inside there is a magnificent high altar and two side altars in Baroque style. Very simple but equally beautiful is also the Church of San Pietro dating back to the thirteenth century as well as the Church of Sant'Antonio da Padova is worth a visit. Finally, worthy of note is the Church of Ognissanti located in the hamlet of Melts.
