The tour that is proposed in the video guides us to discover the main places of interest to be admired. The town is historically divided into two areas: Modica Alta and Modica Bassa, the first as we can see develops around the ancient Castle and consists of alleys that climb along the mountain, while the second is the most downstream area where we can observe the central streets of today's city, such as Corso Umberto I. The Cathedral of San Pietro deserves to be visited, which stands right along Corso Umberto, and has an elegant facade with golden colors, whose entrance is preceded by a staircase flanked by the statues of the 12 apostles; Inside it is divided into three naves and enriched with an imposing colonnade, it is also possible to admire the paintings that decorate it with scenes inspired by the Old and New Testament. Next to it is the oldest church of Modica that is the rock church of San Nicolò Inferiore which preserves the Byzantine frescoes inside. Other attractions include: the Museum of Salvatore Quasimodo's birthplace, the Archaeological Civic Museum and the famous Chocolate Museum which tells the story of Modica's chocolate since its origins and it is also possible to assist in the preparation of this delicacy, by accessing to the laboratory.
