Visit to the Maritime Museum of Cesenatico

(Cesenatico)
Genre: folklore

In Cesenatico you can visit the Maritime Museum, which is open every day in summer. The peculiarity of this museum is that it is only partially inside a building. When the idea of opening it was born, in fact, it was thought that it should be in the open air. Thus the municipality dedicated a part of the canal port to the reception of some ancient sailing ships, restored and often saved by chance. Three of these boats are still sailing today, namely the bragozzo, the trabaccolo and the beach cutter. To the sailing ships that were already in the museum at the inauguration in 1983, others belonging to private individuals have been added over time. Later a real museum was also opened, where it is possible to retrace different aspects of the life of sailors. A first section is still dedicated to boats, to the way in which they were built and operated. Another, on the other hand, talks about life on board and fishing techniques. There are many curiosities in the museum, such as wrecks found at the bottom of the sea, strange fish and a Venetian dolphin-shaped canoe.
