Bellusco is a Lombard municipality in the province of Monza and Brianza; rises 214 meters above sea level and has 7,500 inhabitants. Located in the north-east direction of the capital, it is part of the Vimercatese territory. The symbolic monument of the town is certainly the castle, built by the Da Corte family in the 15th century on the site of a previous building. It had no defensive functions, in fact it was not fortified, but served as a summer resort, a period in which the Milanese lords came to enjoy the cool Brianza climate. At the beginning of the 1800s the castle was dismembered into many properties, losing its original unity. Today part of the building is used as a cultural pole where theatrical performances, events and exhibitions are held. Remarkable is the church of San Martino which preserves the remains of Santa Giustina, one of the most famous relics of the whole Brianza. It should be noted that every year the Palio di Santa Giustina is held between the various districts of Bellusco, where the best floral float will be judged by a special jury.
