Scanno (AQ) is a small town, loved by photographers from all over the world for its beauty. Most likely the village was already inhabited in the Neolithic period, it then belonged to the Samnite peoples and later underwent Roman and Lombard dominations, but already in the Middle Ages it enjoyed particular statutes. Here we can admire spectacular views, including that of the Heart path, the only one from which you can see the entire heart-shaped lake, Lake Scanno boasts the blue flag for the quality of the air and the environment, in fact it is often a stop for those with asthma problems, Scanno is famous for being able to heal the soul and the body. In Scanno, in addition to the lake, we can also enjoy the mountains for skiing, horseback riding and hiking. In the historic center there are eight churches, the most important being the mother church, dedicated to Santa Maria Della Valle, around which the religious life of the inhabitants of the village revolves. A church of medieval origin, whose peculiarity are several frescoes of Saints arranged in chronological order according to the festivities that remind them during the year. The wealth of the town was created thanks to wool, there is also a dedicated museum where all the characteristic objects of its processing are collected. Another vocation of the village is sheep farming, with the production of excellent cheeses including Gregoriano, Francesco (in honor of Pope Francis), salted black ricotta, cheese in wine and the Triptych. Scanno boasts the goldsmith and bobbin craftsmanship, the goldsmith's shop uses a traditional handwork almost unique in its kind, you get pendants and earrings; the tombolo famous today for the production of jewels, with invitations to present these products even in Japan. Traditional gastronomy presents fresh pasta with a particular variant of turnip tops, ravioli with ricotta and saffron cream, and a variety of cold cuts, all accompanied by good wine such as Cerasuolo and Montepulciano d'Abbruzzo. The famous desserts are Mostaccioli and Pan d'Orso.
