An abandoned railway line: the Aosta-Prè-Saint-Didier

(Aosta - Prè-Saint-Didier)
Genre:

There are still very suggestive places in the Mont Blanc area, although inexplicably they have been abandoned. One of these is the ancient railway line that connected Aosta to Prè-Saint-Didier. This line of rails led a small train to connect some of the main towns of the valley, in a path that wound through breathtaking scenery. Many people have used this train, but today it is no longer in use. Its old stations are deserted and have been left to decay and at the mercy of vandalism. Even today you can visit these old buildings, such as the one that used to be in Morgex station. Here still stands the building that housed the station, and you can see the rooms where the conductor and the other maneuvers once worked. The structure is in stone and wood, built in harmony with the surrounding environment. There are also modern details, such as a satellite dish and electricity cables. Today, however, graffiti litter columns and walls, and grass invades the tracks.
