What to eat and what to do in Rosarno at Easter

Where: rosarno
(Rosarno)
Genre: folklore

When Easter approaches, there are two aspects of the tradition that are respected by the local population. The first concerns the more purely religious side. The celebrations begin on Friday with the Via Crucis, and then continue up to the so-called 'fruntata', which is more closely linked to a popular legacy, and concerns the meeting between the Madonna and Jesus Christ after the resurrection. The other aspect is obviously linked to food and the typical dishes that are prepared for Easter and Easter Monday. Asked about it, the town's historic butcher, who has been working here for over 50 years, talks about baked pasta, sausages and pork ribs. It seems that in Rosarno on Easter day lamb or kid meat can never be missing, and the classic colomba is expected as a dessert. For Easter Monday, if time permits, a trip out of town, in the countryside, with all the family is inevitable. The menu in this case concerns the grilled meat to be done outdoors.
