An abandoned tower in Bagnaria

Where: bagnaria
(Bagnaria)
Genre:

In the Staffora Valley, within the municipal area of Bagnaria, if you go for a walk you might come across a ruin that once had to appear much more impressive than it is today. It is an ancient keep, which was built in the 12th century and therefore dates back to medieval times. In reality, little or nothing is known about this construction. Perhaps it was a watchtower when Bagnaria was a fief of the Malaspina. The place where it stands, however, today has nothing strategic. Another hypothesis could then be that it was part of a route, a sort of post office along an important artery of the past. Nowadays the building appears completely abandoned and in ruins. Over time it has buried itself, and originally had to be at least 2 meters higher. Part of the ceiling has fallen and the lower part has been used as a stable. Today, however, inside there are only so many drums of exhausted oils. This ancient watchtower is a curious point of interest for those strolling nearby.
