Villa Godi Malinverni, a pearl in the Vicenza area

Where: lugo-di-vicenza
(Villa Godi-Malinverni)
Genre: culture

The collection of Palladian villas is certainly an important experience for anyone who wants to take a sightseeing tour in the Veneto and Vicenza in particular. Within this circuit is the splendid Villa Godi-Malinverni, one of the first works of the great architect Andrea Palladio. This property, protected by UNESCO and a World Heritage Site, was built in 1542. It welcomes with a large facade facing west and a large staircase: from here you enter the noble rooms. The halls that can be visited are nine and have benefited from the skilled hands of three sixteenth-century painters: Zelotti, Del Moro and Padovano. This is the cause of the pursuit of styles that can be seen in the interiors, where the decorations sometimes follow the dictates of the classical school, sometimes of the mystical school. The frescoes and coffered ceilings are works of sublime quality. The villa also houses the local Fossil Museum, with as many as three hundred artifacts recovered by the geologist Achille de Zigno. The park of the villa offers tourists 1300 meters of avenues and is conceived according to an artistic logic of a romantic type. You can also admire numerous centuries-old plants and the swan lake, in the center of the gardens.
