The wind takes us to Monte Sant'Angelo.

Where: monte-sant-angelo
(Monte Sant'Angelo)
Genre: culture   wine and food   fun

The soil, limestone and karst, dug in small caves by the springs of water, such as the Archangel Cave, the legendary cave of the Church of San Michele, where the Angel would appear, speaks of this town. Here begins the visit, in front of the staircase and the white and pure facade like the Spirit to which it is named and it is exciting to join the many pilgrims who bow to see the statue of Sansovino, hidden under the rock, behind the apse. There are many votive gifts collected in the Devotional Museum, some simple and ancient such as some waxes or statuettes, others prestigious such as numismatic collections or precious majolica. Walking towards the apical part of the town, we visit the Castle of which the first forts date back to the year 800, by the will of Bishop Orso. The current character of the fortress is mainly due to the Aragonese culture which enlarged it with the almond-shaped towers and the moat facing the entrance door. Inside you can walk the escape routes, the dungeons, the labyrinthine ducts. At the end of the visits, one more walk, tasting the host filled with almonds and honey.
