The Girotondo delle Stagioni, the artistic fountain of Castel Viscardo

In 2011 the municipal administration of Castel Viscardo decided to give a new fountain to the central square of the town. The artistic project for its decoration was entrusted to Feliciano Tabarrini and Franco Tiberi, while the realization was by the Technical Office of the Municipality. Surmounted by a wrought iron structure with a wind vane, the fountain is characterized by a cycle of terracotta bas-reliefs called 'Il Girotondo delle Stagioni'. On the tiles are represented scenes from the life of Castel Viscardo yesterday and today, through the seasons and months of the year. In fact, 12 panels depict the months of the year, from January to December. Each month has its own characteristics: for example, in May there are many roses, in September there is a family preparing for the reopening of schools, in December there are sausages and the log lit in the fireplace. There are also 4 tiles, one for each season. Summer celebrates the work in the furnace, which gives life to tiles, terracotta tiles, and enhances the work of human hands.
