Capri is a Campania island belonging to the province of Naples; it has 7,500 permanent inhabitants, while in summer it is populated out of all proportion. Capri has always been a symbol and synonym of worldliness, luxury and charm, with an economy centered almost entirely on tourism, national and foreign; the other productive pockets are represented by craftsmanship and typical lemons. In Capri, however, there is no shortage of naturalistic and cultural spaces. The famous square, with its bars, clubs and shops represents the beating heart of the island which in the summer season is able to absorb the daily landing of 10,000 visitors a day between cruises and vacationers. Via Camerelle is the street of luxury with its glittering shop windows, exclusive shops and glitzy hotels. International tourism accounts for 70% of the island's profits. VIPs come from all over the world, as the blue island has long become an icon of style and worldliness. The beaches are one of the major attractions with their clear and crystalline waters. The characteristic chairlift towards Mount Solaro allows tourists to enjoy the entire conformation of the island from above, with 360 degree panoramas. Daily admissions to the chairlift reach 800-900 units per day in the tourist season. The unmissable sites for visitors are the famous blue grotto, the Certosa di San Giacomo and the Villa Jovis, the residence of the emperor Tiberius. All immersed in breathtaking views and in the scents of lemon groves.
