How we once lived: the past relives in Baveno

Every year in Baveno there is a suggestive event which usually takes place in November. It is called a leap into the past, and sees the historic center of the country transform in a radical way. In fact, from 12: 00 to 20: 00 Baveno goes back in time, and more precisely to a period between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The event is unique in the local cultural panorama and is possible thanks to the work of numerous volunteers: it takes 500 as extras and over 100 for the preparation. There is a path for visitors that passes through artisan shops and food stands. There is, for example, the blacksmith with his water hammer, an instrument reconstructed with historical rigor. There are scenes of peasant life, and also the chance to see the flour mill in operation. The only currency that can be used to buy the goods for sale is the Baveno Franc, so that the tourist can really have the feeling of being strolling through the Baveno of a few centuries ago. The event ends with a large bonfire.
