Walking around Bertinoro

Where: bertinoro
(Bertinoro)
Genre: culture

Bertinoro is a charming town in the province of Forlì-Cesena. The town is famous above all for the hospitality of its inhabitants and for the excellent wines produced there such as Albana, Sangiovese and Pagadebit. Those who want to spend some time in total relaxation must absolutely visit the thermal baths of the hamlet of Fratta. For culture lovers, on the other hand, it is advisable to go and see the Interreligious Museum located in the city center. Suggestive is also the Cathedral of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria built at the end of the 16th century. Inside there are several paintings and statues of exquisite workmanship. The symbol of the town, however, is the Column of Hospitality. It is so called because in the past the families of Bertinoro, in order to avoid arguing over who was to host the strangers who arrived in the city, had this structure installed with rings. It would then be the traveler on duty to choose the ring to tie the horse that corresponded to a given family that would host it. Very beautiful is the Rocca di Bertinoro built around the year 1000. In the past this building had military purposes and then became an episcopal seat until 1969. An obligatory stop for tourists is also the Ca'de Bè wine shop and museum where you can taste local wines. The peculiarity of this place is the presence of a bell that is rung every year on the first day of harvest.
