Pont-Saint-Martin is a charming town of almost 4000 inhabitants in the Aosta Valley. The symbol of the town is the splendid 2000-year-old Roman Bridge which has survived to the present day resisting the weather and the fury of the Lys stream. In this town also passes the Via Francigena that in ancient times pilgrims traveled to go to Rome. Its territory is rich in historic buildings dating back to different eras including the Castle of the Lords of Pont-Saint-Martin, the Casaforte Castel which is currently the museum and the Gothic Castle built in the late 1800s by Doctor Baraing. This structure for many years served as a municipal building. Very beautiful is the Church of the Precious Blood of the Lord and of the Madonna del Rosario built by Baron Pierre di Vellaise as a private chapel and made a place of public worship in 1614. Inside there is a painting of San Martino of great value. An event not to be missed is the Carnival in which the hamlets of the town compete in various games. During this event there is also the representation of the legend of the Roman Bridge which culminates with the Pyre of the Devil.
