Carcare, a country of a thousand surprises

Where: carcare
(Carcare)
Genre: events    culture

Carcare is a town of 5,800 inhabitants, in the province of Savona, in the upper Val Bormida, on the border between Liguria and Piedmont. It is a Calasanctian city, because the first college outside Rome of the Scolopi fathers was opened here, founded precisely by San Giuseppe Calasanzio. Huge reason for pride for all citizens is the presence in Carcare of one of the most famous high schools in Italy: the classical high school named after Giuseppe Calasanzio. Carcare has a bridge that practically divides the town into two parts; this provides a fun rivalry that every year leads to a series of nice challenges between the two areas that involve the entire citizenry, with great participation and emphasis. Another curiosity of Carcare lies in the fact that our hymn, the anthem of Mameli, was written here. In Carcare there is also a national event that has now reached several editions: the Miss Terronia contest, the charm of Mediterranean beauty; initiative capable of providing considerable prestige and visibility to the entire territory and enliven the entire tourism sector.
