Located on the Reggio Apennines, the territory of Villa Minozzo is large and green, as well as steeped in history and culture. One of the oldest buildings is the Rocca del Melocio, an imposing defensive structure that dominates what was once the border between the exarchate of Ravenna and the Lombard kingdom; in the past the structure presumably rose to a height of between twenty and thirty meters. Archaeological studies have brought to light not only a complex of environments, cisterns and defensive architectural devices, but also pottery and ceramics. Another important building is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, built starting from 1612 in place of the previously collapsed medieval parish church. Of particular interest are the decorations of the central nave and the frescoes. A wonderful corner of nature in the municipality of Villa Minozzo can be found at the Fonti di Poiano, karst springs that then flow into the Secchia river. They are ideal for a bath, thanks to the high salinity of the water. Among the main activities for which Villa Minozzo is famous is mushroom picking, an activity that allows you to stay in contact with the wonderful setting of the Apennines and the National Park.
