One of the religious festivals most felt by the inhabitants of Settefrati: The descent of the Madonna di Canneto

Every year, in August, the Madonna di Canneto is celebrated in Settefrati with a series of codified rites that are repeated unchanged year after year. The festival opens on August 14 with the traditional 'calata'. The icon of the Madonna, a statue kept in a reliquary, is brought down from the place where it is kept through a manually operated winch. Then the parish priest carries in procession another effigy, which has white clothes, which is placed in front of the altar. The statue remains there for a few days and then moves to Canneto, where it remains for another 5 days. At the return of the sacred effigy to Settefrati we arrive at the climax of the party. These celebrations are always deeply felt not only by the inhabitants of the municipalities involved, but also by those who emigrated abroad and return for the occasion. Furthermore, the veneration for the Madonna di caneeto involves various neighboring regions, especially Lazio, Campania, Abruzzo and Molise. Pilgrimages on foot are also organized.
