Art tells its land.

Where: sambuca-di-sicilia
(Sambuca di Sicilia)
Genre: culture   folklore

Elected in 2016 with the title of hamlet of villages, the town is located a few kilometers from the archaeological sites of Selinunte and the valley of the Temples. The agricultural and biological vocation, the artistic tradition and hospitality are the fulcrum of the tourist attraction. The historic line of the village begins at the site of Adranon, in the highest part, founded by the Selinuntini, descending vertically, is the Arab quarter of Al Zabut and finally the nineteenth-century part, with wide streets and baroque architecture. In the Arab quarter, which is accessed by a small passage, the four centuries of domination are experienced in the colors of the tapestries, in the double names of the streets, in the colors of the frescoes and majolica. Later the Sanctuary and the Church of Santa Caterina di Alessandria were built and the town conformed to the rites of Catholicism. Despite this, the bond with the land is strong in the numerous pagan figures that adorn the local churches and manufactures. Much appreciated is the Birrarpa, produced in the craft brewery that ferments the local wheat and depicts in the label the 'sambuca', an instrument similar to the harp, played by the ancient Greeks.
