The menhirs of Pranu Matteddu.

Where: goni
(Goni)
Genre: culture   nature

The archaeological site is a garden of olive trees and Menhirs, placed in pairs or in groups, dating back to the Neolithic period 3200-2800 BC. C. The spiritual design followed in the planting of the boulders concerns the civilization of the Ozieri who pursued sepulchral and religious rites. The entrance portal is a passage in Sardinian prehistory of which the enormous centuries-old oaks that flank it are the guardians. Among the olive trees a spiral of boulders is concentrated up to the apex of the megaliths which constitute it as the pupil. It is an eye that comes from afar since, already in prehistoric times, the knowledge of time, of the seasons, the projection into another dimension was innate. On the promontory there is also an underground cave, carved into the rock, with three circles of tomb rooms. The site can be reached from the provincial road to Cagliari, which is 30 minutes away by car. In Goni you can also visit the Nuraghe, located on top of the hill overlooking the town and the lake of Mulargia, from which you can admire the view.
